How to Overcome Your Struggle with Planning

I wrestled for years to create a plan that I saw through and completed. Don’t get me wrong, I would achieve some of it through grit and determination rather than ease and grace. What I didn’t understand was that when we set actions from a place of fear, or lack of, when we feel we ought to be doing these things, we are not aligned energetically or emotionally with the tasks we set. Setting them from a place of ‘should do’ usually results in you not wanting to do them! Certainly not with ease or grace at any rate. They don’t fill you with motivation, joy or excitement.

So how do we get to a place of excitement about looking ahead when you’re starting the year with a lack of energy or motivation? Begin by looking at what will get you back to an even keel BEFORE you start thinking about planning. Many retail business owners fall into the Christmas break exhausted, and the holiday period often doesn’t do a huge amount to help recovery; it’s just a different type of busy!

It’s not usually until January that we can find head space and heart space to top up energy levels and start feeling motivated again. What do you need to help you recover and replenish? If you’re wrestling with the start of your year, create some space away from your business to reset.

Creating your future from a place of calm and openness, with a full heart and a clear head will mean you’re far more likely to create a plan for the future that you love.
